Mounting Style
HS407C: The HS407C comes packed with a flat top mounting plate. You can remove that to mount it on top of a Picatinny rail or add dovetail rails, or even shotgun rails if you are feeling fancy. That’s right, you can use this sight with any gun you could think of. This small compact sight is an all-rounder open reflex sight.
HS507C: Just like the other brother, this one also comes packed with a flat top mount. You can directly mount this on top of a pistol with no issues whatsoever. But you might want to grab a mounting system for the sight if you plan on using this as your main sight on your rifle. Yes, the Holosun HS507C X2 also includes the same mount.
Both of them share the Trijicon RMR footprint. If you want to use this on an AR, then you will need to buy a raiser/high-mount with RMR footprint.
Lens Clarity
HS407C: Holosun is known to provide good quality lenses in their products. Some doubt their capabilities as their most of the time lower-priced than other reflex sights. But don’t let the price tag fool you. It’s a fully multi-coated lens that won’t show a single piece of glaring.

HS507C: This is fixed magnification as well. The lenses are clear and they don’t get dirty often. 1x magnification is enough to practice your handgun on the range or hunting at extremely short range with a shotgun.
Sadly, you cannot decide between the two from the magnification alone. After all, they share the same lens.
Reticle and Brightness
HS407C: This is where the key difference lies between the two of them. HS407C only has a 2 MOA red dot reticle. The reticle is glass etched. It won’t move around anywhere like a piece of paper or anything. It’s extremely clear and vibrant. The HS407C is also illuminated. It has a solar panel on top of the lens to use as emergency fuel if your battery runs out. The battery is rated to run for 50k hours. And it’s available in green or red reticle to choose from.
HS507C: Unlike the HS407C and 407K, HS507C X2 has a 32 MOA ring around the 2 MOA red dot reticle. It’s also available in both red and green illumination. You can adjust the illumination of the reticle for up to 10 levels during the day and 2 levels at night. And it uses a CR1632 battery to operate. There is also a solar failsafe.
The green one tends to consume slightly more battery than the red illumination. But it’s a minor caveat that can be ignored. There you have it, the real key difference between the two. Decide whether you have any use for that 32 MOA ring or not. And the battery life on both is really commendable.
Durability & Weight
HS407C: When it comes to durability, there is no question about how well each of the sights here is made. This one is made out of 7075 T6 aluminum. A really durable material that we see in much more expensive products. Besides scopes, this material is used in making aircraft and motorized vehicles as well.
HS507C: Just like the 407c, this one is made with extremely durable and rugged 7075 T6 aluminum. It’s made through the CNC machining process, there are no spot marks or machining errors present on the optic. It’s made to last in range practice and real life scenarios, have to say it lives up to that claim.
As you can see, there is virtually no difference in build quality between the two. They both share the same material and size. In fact, they both weigh exactly 1.5oz. Way too similar!
